Drukpath Trek

Day 1

Prepare for a thrilling experience as the wings of Druk Air navigate through the majestic peaks of the Himalayas and finally land in the scenic Paro Valley. Believe it or not, some guests come to Bhutan only to experience the landing at Paro International Airport again. You are going to love this!

Paro International Airport is also known for its unique features adorned by traditional Bhutanese architecture. Something that immediately catches the attention of the guests- a rare beauty!

You will be warmly welcomed by your Guide and driver with Khadar, a traditional way of welcoming guests.

Day 2

Hike to Taktshang monastery as good acclimatisation for the trek

Day 3 – Trek Day 1

Paro to Jele Dzong

Today’s trail is long but mostly gentle ascent. A clear day offers a bird’s eye view of Paro valley. Camp is at 3536 m.

Day 4 – Trek Day 2:

Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha

Walk through thick alpine forests and rhododendron trees. In winter yaks graze in the pastures along the path and around the campsite.

Day 5 – Trek Day 3:

Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso

Today’s trek follows mountain ridges with spectacular views of distant valleys and mountain ranges. The camp is near the Jimilangtso Lake at

about 3700 m.

Day 6 – Trek Day 4:

Jimilangtso to Semkotha

The path continues past rhododendron trees, the Janetsho Lake and through yak herders’ camps. Camp by the Semkotha Lake at an altitude of around 3800 m.

Day 7 – Trek Day 5:

Semkotha to Phajoding

The day begins with a gradual climb. If weather permits there will be a beautiful view of Mount Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain, as well as of further peaks from the Doupchu La Pass. The path gradually descends to Phajoding Gompa, where a monastery and retreat centres for meditation are located. We Camp at about 3500 m

Day 8 – Trek Day 6:

Phajoding to Thimphu

The final day’s trail to Thimphu descends steeply through blue pine forests (2 to 3 hours) and depending on you, we might see a few places in Thimphu.

Day 9 – Thimphu sightseeing

We will then continue sightseeing in Thimphu. First, we start the day with  the visit to the Buddha Dordenma, one the the biggest sitting Buddha statue in the world, and followed by the visit to the national memorial Stupa, built in the memory oof the third king. Then the Takin preversation centre and followed by the a visit to the Folk heritage museum, where you will also have a traditional Bhutanese lunch.

After lunch, visit post office and the Tashichodzong, the central administration of Bhutan and the office of the throne.

Day 10 (Day Excursion to Punakha)

We will start our day early and drive to Punakha, which is around 3 hours from Thimphu. On the way we will come across dochula pass, where you can see 108 stupas. And if the weather permits, you can see the Himalayan ranges of Bhutan.

We continue our drive to Punakha. We will visit the most beautiful dzong in Bhutan and followed by a short walk to the longest suspension Bridge in Bhutan.

After Lunch we will hike to the temple of fetrtility called the Chimmi Lhakhang. Its a very beautiful hike along the paddy fields and goes through a small community.

Return to Thimphu

Day 11 (Departure)

Say our goodbyes and drop to the airport.
